MASI (Mobile Analytical Services, Inc.) is a full-service, environmental laboratory, specializing in the sampling and analysis of drinking water, wastewater, storm water, and solid and hazardous waste. MASI offers electronic EPA reporting, a statewide* courier service, and quick, consistent turn times. With two locations (Columbus and Cincinnati) to serve you, and more than 47 years of experience, let MASI tailor services to meet your needs.

As an Ohio EPA Certified Laboratory, we offer a wide range of testing, that covers all your regulatory requirements. Chemical testing services include secondary contaminants, inorganic contaminants, synthetic organics, volatile organic, metals, and disinfection by-products. We also support all common analyses for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits. We offer additional expertise, to help with testing, that may not be part of routine analytical testing. MASI has a combination of resources, technical expertise, and testing ability, to support large and small clients. We can test a variety of matrices, including but not limited to, drinking water, wastewater, hazardous waste, sludge, soil, etc. MASI employs a dedicated, highly trained, seasoned staff, that are certified by the State of Ohio, to perform all your testing needs.  We employ modern instrumentation, to achieve the lowest possible detection limits, and the most accurate results, in the shortest amount of time. 

Microbiology Services

Our Microbiology department can accommodate all your coliform testing needs whether it be qualitative or quantitative. We offer fast, accurate testing by various OEPA certified methods, including MUG, MPN, or MF. In case of emergencies, we are ready day or night, 365 days a year, to help you with your coliform testing.

Rich Harner

CEO

Born and raised in Urbana, Ohio Richard has been working with MASI Environmental Laboratories for over 35 years.

Over the years Rich held various positions as OEPA Certified Lab Technician: Microbiology, Wet Chemistry, and Inorganic metals, Quality Control Officer, Lab Manager, Field Service Manager and Sales and Marketing Manager. He took over ownership of MASI in 2018 and currently serves as COO/CEO.

Rich Harner graduated from Muskingum Technical College in OLAB Waste Water Technical Programs. Rich has also completed Business Management Program and Market Management Program from Columbus State Community College/Clark State

Rich has been married for 20 years with two daughters. Besides family life, Rich enjoys playing basketball and golfing.

Tyson Roberts

CFO

Born and raised in the small town of West Liberty Ohio, Tyson graduated with a Masters in Accountancy from Bowling Green State University. Post-graduation Tyson has worked as a CPA in public accounting for over 15 years. Throughout his career Tyson provided financial statement audits and consulting services for clients in multiple industries including, manufacturing & distribution, services, financial institutions, and healthcare. He took over ownership of MASI in 2018 and currently serves as CFO.

As a husband and father of three, Tyson enjoys spending time with family, camping, fishing, snow skiing and being terrible at golf.

Mike Rex

Logistics Manager

Mike started in with MASI Labs in 1980 as a Route Courier and moved on to become Route Manager, handling several complex projects along the way. Mike currently oversees MASI's route program continuously leveraging his communication and coordination skills to serve MASI's clients for their water sampling and analytical needs.

Mike is from a small community of West Liberty, OH, graduated from West Liberty-Salem Schools Class of 1977. He also completed courses in business and management from Columbus State Community College.

Mike enjoys following college sports and loves traveling and outdoor activities.

Randy O'Neil

Field Project Manager

Randy O'Neil serves as Field Project Manager for MASI Laboratories. He has been with MASI Labs for 10 years. Randy manages operations with existing clients and ensures the client needs are met. Prior to joining MASI, Randy held managerial positions at companies in various industries for over 25 years.

Randy has a degree in Business Management. He currently lives in Marysville Ohio with his wife and 2 children. He enjoys Coaching middle School basketball and golfing with his friends.

Bridget Troesch

Sales & Marketing Manager

Bridget has been a member of the MASI team for over 20 years. She transitioned from Office Manager, to Sales & Marketing Manager in October of 2018. Providing exceptional client service has always been, and continues to be, her daily goal. Her years of experience at MASI, has provided her with the tools, to assist clients, with any of their water quality requirements.

Bridget resides in her hometown, of Plain City, OH; with her husband and two children. When not at MASI, you will find her at one of her daughter's volleyball games, immersed in a new book, or watching a sporting event or cooking show. As a graduate of The Ohio State University, she is proud to say that she does, in fact, bleed scarlet and gray.

Karla Thaxton

Lab Director

Karla Thaxton has been with MASI Labs since 2006. She began her career at MASI as a semi-volatiles analyst and has had responsibilities with the organization including volatiles analyst and production supervisor for the organic analysis lab in Cincinnati, prior to becoming laboratory manager for both the Cincinnati and Plain City facilities in 2014.

Karla has 27 years of experience in environmental laboratories, including 4 years in Quality Assurance and 9 years as a lead GC analyst and Metals analyst. Karla earned her B.A. degree in Chemistry from Capital University in 1993.

Karla lives in Cincinnati with her husband and 4 cats. She enjoys running, photography, and travelling.

Audrey Cooper

Office Manager

Audrey Cooper serves as our Office Manager for our Plain City and Cincinnati laboratories. Upon her graduation in 2013, Audrey started her career at MASI. From managing the day-to-day functions of our staff and customer service, to working daily with the OEPA, she thrives to ensure that all client's needs, and requirements are met to the highest quality.

Audrey resides in North Lewisburg Ohio with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she operates a small photography business, any enjoys spending time with her family.
